Lollapalooza

This was a new experience for me. It was one of the best things I did this summer. I bought my ticket and my original plans didn't work out and once again this city showed me how great it really is. I went with 2 friends and then met up with a few other friends for various shows through out the weekend. I worked from home Friday so that I could make sure I was at Grant park by noon to start out my 3 days of music. Friday started out a bit wet, it rained most of the day and though I had a trash bag, a hoodie, and an umbrella I rarely used any of it. I just got soaked and yet just didn't care. I put my phone in a zip lock baggie and discovered the touch screen worked through the bag so I just kept texting away all day. This was more amusing then it should have been but oh well. Friday we went from show to show with some Bud Light tall boys in hand. Made the rain a bit more enjoyable ha. Some of my Friday highlights were The Knux, White Lies, Ben Folds, Peter Bjorn and John and of course the Kings of Leon. After Fridays show I wandered up to Wrigley to meet up with a friend from school even though I should have just gone to bed.

Woke up Saturday to rain yet again but by 11 am it had cleared up and the humidity took full force. It only got up to 90 but the humidty was 98% so you can imagine how lovely the weather was. Saturday our schedules were not nearly as full as Friday so after starting at Band of Skulls we just wandered from food vendors to radio tents (which had some very stylish shades to sport). Saw Delta Spirits and Atmosphere as well as Perry DJ stage while wandering then our schedules kicked back in with Gomez, Coheed and Cambria, Santigold (where the sound stage was over taken). I darted off to watch Lykke Li who was sweet then went back and prepared for Yeah Yeah Yeahs. We were right up close for that one complete with pushing douche with ugly girlfriend and kid on ecstasy. Ended up going out to a friends party after the shows on Saturday where I was convinced by my so convincing friend Kate to go out to the bar after the party till 3 am. Good work Kate really had to twist my arm on that one, ha.

Woke up a bit tired on Sunday but was right in the spirit of Lolla and there at 11am sharp. The park started out very empty but in no time was packed full. Started out Saturday with the Sam Roberts Band which was really good. I mean come on they sing about Detroit!!! Grabbed some food I had a huge piece of watermelon. Sunday started out a bit slow but after we went to Kaiser Chiefs the day just started to kick ass. We went and claimed out camp site for the rest of the day on the Chicago Stage lawn. Went with Jeff and his friend Kelli to Passion Pit which only Jeff had really heard who he kept telling us was going to change our lives. Needless to say they were awesome and Jeff went crowd surfing while Kelli and I just watched. We went straight from Passion Pit to Snoop (definitely a huge change in genre). We went up to the barrier next to the sound booth which turned out to be awesome because the security kept dumping water bottles on us. It was about 91 out at this point and way humid and the sun was just baking us. Snoop was way fun even though he just liked to hear his name yelled, which we did over and over with a big grin on our faces. Took a little break and then prepared for the Killers! They were so awesome I know just about every song and just let loose and had a blast!

Over all I would have to say Sunday was the best day. And the weekend was a complete success and I become better friends with the people I went with and met up with which is always amazing. Lollapalooza 2009 was simply amazing!

My First Post

So I am new to this and I have no idea where to start. I have lots of things to say and I am sure that I will say them all in time. My life has been flying by like crazy this summer. I have been continuously on the move. I quit my old job to move to Chicago so I could have a life outside of work. Well I got that and then some. Since I started playing kickball my life has gone into turbo speed. I have made so many friends and I have things to do now. It is such a great feeling to feel like you belong someplace. I went to MSU and had a great time there and learned so much about myself and had an absolutely great time, I wished it never would end. Like so many things that unfortunately do end, my life at MSU ended. When I went to Crayola I wished I could at least still live a similar life but that wasn't the case. It was a year and half of a dismal life. I had a great job and a great apartment. But something was missing, a social life. I made a few friends but they lived a very different life style then me. So one day I decided to move to Chicago and I found a job and moved. Things haven't been this good since MSU. I have a phone that rings and an active social life. Almost to active. I wouldn't ask for anything else. I am truly happy and don't think I really know how to express that. Or to thank my friends who were there for me when things weren't so great. The only thing I ask of myself is to not forget that they were here for me and I want to be there for them. Things come and go and phases come in and out but the only things that matter in the end are your friends and family.
